Our main motivation for these conversations is to educate others on the things we know and to learn from others. We hope that though this medium, we are able to here a curiosity for truth and learning as well as sharing a little entertainment.

Our Story
Justin and Kara met while serving in the U.S. Navy—an unexpected crossing of paths that neither of them saw coming. Justin had planned to join the Marines, and Kara had set her sights on a career in medicine, yet both found themselves working in naval aviation. What began as a shared experience in service quickly grew into a deep partnership. Their early years together were marked by deployments and constant change, but through every challenge, they held fast to their commitment to one another. After completing their enlistments, they settled in Colorado to raise their growing family. Both are now proud 100% disabled veterans who have turned their resilience toward new callings and a quieter, more intentional life. In 2020, they moved to Minnesota, where they’ve poured their hearts into building a farm, raising animals, homeschooling their four children, and investing in their local community.

Justin’s life has been a tapestry of hard work and service. His career has taken him from construction sites and barrooms to flight decks and farm fields. He has worked as a construction worker, bar back, and bouncer, served in the Navy as an Aviation Support Equipment Technician, and built a career afterward as a heavy equipment mechanic, maintenance technician at Anheuser-Busch, youth pastor, church planter, corrections officer, church facility manager, and now farmer and petting zoo operator. His education reflects his wide range of interests and gifts—studying mechanical and electrical engineering, hydraulic and diesel technology, biblical studies, pastoral ministries, sustainable farming, animal husbandry, and livestock management. These days, Justin leads small groups at church, teaches their children, and spends countless hours learning—listening to podcasts and books that deepen his understanding of both faith and the world around him.

Kara’s path has been equally diverse and service-driven. She has worked in finance for the school district, as a nanny, in payroll and records departments, and as both a CNA and EMT. Her experience spans the surgical department of a hospital, air traffic control in the Navy, and roles as an office manager in both medical and church settings. She also served with a rescue and ambulance helicopter team and has been a leader in women’s, youth, and children’s ministries. Today, she manages their family’s farm, operates several websites for different organizations, and homeschools their children. Her educational background is just as impressive—she studied U.S. History, holds licenses as a CNA, EMT, and FAA-certified professional, earned a degree as a medical assistant and a bachelor’s in Hospital Administration with a focus on epidemiology and research, and has completed courses in biblical leadership and sustainable agriculture. Kara’s passion for truth, learning, and caring for others continues to guide her every day.

Together, Justin and Kara’s story is one of service, resilience, and faith—a journey from the chaos of deployments to the peace of rural life, from military aviation to ministry and farming. Their shared experiences have shaped not only their family but also the community they continue to build around them.
